Training will enable technicians to deal with the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana efficiently and attract more consumers
Udaipur, December 17, 2024 - Ajmer DISCOM (Distribution Company) is conducting a training programme for grid-connected rooftop solar systems in Udaipur from December 28. This training is for AENs (Assistant Engineers), JENs (Junior Engineers) and technicians. The first training session for Ajmer DISCOM area was held in Ajmer. AEN (Training) Prashant Parashar mentioned that upcoming training sessions will be held in Sikar Circle for the Jhunjhunu zone on December 21-22, and in Udaipur Circle for the Udaipur zone on December 28-29.
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was launched by the Union Government on February 29, 2024, which increases the share of solar rooftop capacity and empowers residential homes to generate their own electricity.
What is the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
• The total expenditure for the scheme is Rs 75,021 crore, and will be implemented until the financial year 2026-27. The National Programme Implementation Agency (NPIA) and State Implementation Agencies (SIAs) will oversee its execution.
• After the consumer registers, the responsibility for ensuring the availability of net metre, conducting timely inspections, and commissioning the system lies with the DISCOMs. Additionally, vendor registration and management will also be handled by the DISCOMs.
• A subsidy of 60% of the cost is provided for solar systems up to 2 kW capacity, and for systems between 2 to 3 kW, a subsidy of 40% of the cost is offered. The subsidy limit is up to 3 kW. It is Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for a 2 kW system and Rs 78,000 for a 3 kW or more system.
Who Can Apply:
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan DISCOM has come up with a scheme to keep people connected with the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bill Yojana. According to the new rules, consumers will no longer need to pay different demand charges repeatedly when applying for and getting the connection. Instead, the amount will be added to the electricity bill once the connection is provided. This will encourage the consumers to switch to solar energy.
