All alcoholic products will be charged 20 percent extra this Saturday (today) onwards. State government has declared to increase 20 percent surcharge under VAT act. This surcharge is applicable on beer, country liquor, English and even imported liquor. Recently an amendment was made under VAT act for levying cess on liquor. A provision was made to use this cess for the development of cows. On the other hand, consumers were already fuming over licensed stores charging more than MRP.
