Udaipur, November 13, 2024 - In an incident yesterday at the busy Paras Circle in Udaipur, a home guard attending to traffic at the intersection had an altercation with a couple leading to the arrest of the latter.

As per the police, volunteer number 619, Man Singh, resident of house number 72, lane number 3, Swarajnagar, Machhla Magra, Udaipur, submitted a report stating that he was performing government duty at Patel Circle intersection alongside Traffic Police Head Constable Magan Lal, ensuring smooth traffic flow. During this time, a van approached and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. A woman was seated in the front seat of the van.

The traffic police stopped the car and questioned the driver about not wearing the seatbelt. The couple, say the police, got into an argument with the Home Guard. Reportedly, following the argument, the Home Guard allegedly began beating the driver of the car. The man's wife, who was seated in the passenger seat, phoned her son immediately and he soon arrived at the spot with a few people.

The son, who later turned out to be a history sheeter with some cases registered against him, got into an altercation with the Home Guard and allegedly snatched the policeman's baton and started beating him. Passersby rushed to the rescue of the Home Guard and the son fled from the scene.

The video of the man beating the Home Guard went viral. But there was another video which started going viral, too,  in which a Home Guard is seen beating an elderly person with a stick.

Surajpol Station Officer Ratan Singh told UdaipurTimes that the police have registered a case against the youth for obstructing government duty and for assault and have launched a search for him.  A case has been registered against the absconder and the elderly couple have been arrested on charges of obstructing police duty. 

The arrested couple were identified as Syed Mohabbat Hussain alias Syed Mohammad Hussain, age 60, resident of 46 Kishanpol, Udaipur, and Khushboo, wife of Syed Mohabbat Hussain alias Syed Mohammad Hussain, age 51, resident of 46 Kishanpol, Udaipur.

The main accused in the incident, Syed Zoeb alias Kumel, son of Syed Mohabbat Hussain, resident of 46 Kishanpol, Udaipur, is absconding to avoid arrest. Police teams are conducting raids at his known locations in search of him.
