Ambulance services have been classified as transport vehicles meant for social service, under the Motor Vehicle 1988, as they are exempt from taxes. In the COVID pandemic, Ambulance services are classified under services of paramount importance.
However, the Ambulance services being run by some private entities are charging exorbitant sums of money for transporting COVID patients inter-city or from home to hospital. The RTO – Rajasthan released a rate card for Ambulance services to curtail the incidents of high charges being taken by ambulances during such times.
The state government, on 26 April 2021 defined a rate card for Ambulance services, which overrides all previous rates defined by district RTOs and District Collectors. The Rate Card for Ambulance Services is as follows:
If anyone comes across service providers in Udaipur charging sums more than the above defined or refusing to entertain the defined costs, can call helpline numbers 7728033551, 9799540715, 7891950178.
Strict action will be taken against providers charging any sum more than the above defined rate card.
