After reaching its full capacity of 24 feet, the irrigation department officials opened both the gates of Lake Udaisagar by 4-4 inches each.

The gates were opened after considering the increased water level in the catchment area of Udaisagar lake. Udaisagar has been receiving constant flow of water over the past few days with both Pichola and Fateh sagar making their contributions along with water coming directly from Chikalwas feeder into Ayar river.

Udaisagar reached its full capacity yesterday afternoon after which its gates were opened. A huge packet of water hyacinth (jalkumbhi) started flowing out as the gates were opened.

Though the rain has abated for quite some time now but the water from catchment areas is still flowing in.
