Residents of Rama village which falls under Sukher police station area killed a panther and then burnt it. Case under Wild Life Act of 1972 has been registered against the villagers. As per reports, a panther which got injured by an unidentified vehicle attacked a villager in Rama. This aggravated the residents and they pelted stones at the panther. Their anger did not stop here so after it was dead, they burnt the panther. Forest department has registered a case against the villagers for killing the panther which is an offense under Wild Life Act. The remains of the panther have been sent to FSL for investigations.

Prem Singh Rajput (65), the man attacked by the panther, is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Chief forest conservator said that the panther was probably hit by some vehicle during night hours and it took shelter in a field in the village. The next morning the field owner was attacked by the panther. People heard his cries for help and started throwing stones at the panther which were enough to kill it since it was already injured. After this they burnt the animal.
