Udaipur’s local news channel IN NEWS reported news yesterday that a cow fainted in the middle of road in Surajpole area. People of the area contacted Animal Aid Unlimited Society (AAU) and asked for treatment but they replied saying that its cow owner’s responsibility to take care of his animal. People got angry over this reply. Then they contacted Municipal Corporation but no one reached the spot for about an hour.

Meanwhile the cow died and people protested by blocking the road. When Head of Health Committee, Paras Singhvi was informed about this incidence few people from Municipal Corporation came and took the dead cow with them.

We tried to reach Claire regarding this news and in a personal note with UT, Claire Abrams, Founding member of Animal Aid Unlimited said,

“Animal Aid Unlimited is meant to help stray dogs and cows. We try our best to provide medical treatments and other facilities to such animals.

When I received a call yesterday from the cow owner, I suggested him to take the cow to Animal Hospital at Chetak Circle or consult a Veterinary Doctor. But, he wasn’t convinced over this.

Since, the cow owner has made benefit for over years by selling milk and other products it becomes his due responsibility to bear the expenses of treatment. The same is mentioned in the Constitution of India.

We at AAU provide all facilities for stray cows and dogs that have no one to take care of. AAU is an NGO run from private funding and doesn’t receive any Government Aid. So, in such cases we always suggest the animal owner to consult a private Veterinary Practitioner or Government Hospital. This is sometimes misled by people. We request everyone to kindly cooperate with us. With your kind cooperation, we can improve our services.”
