Annapurna Yojana August Payment From August 15; Government Starts Fresh Verification Drive
The state government has confirmed that the Annapurna Yojana August instalment of Rs 3,000 will start reaching eligible beneficiaries from August 15. A fresh verification drive has also been launched after irregularities were found in several online applications.
August 06, 2026: Beneficiaries of the Annapurna Yojana will receive the August instalment of Rs 3,000 starting from August 15. The state government has clarified that the payment will not be delayed until September. However, officials are carrying out a detailed verification process after several irregularities were found in online applications.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Malti Rava Roy said that strict checks are being conducted to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive the financial assistance. Speaking at the Merchants Chamber of Commerce and MCCI Ladies Forum, she warned that anyone who has submitted incorrect information will not receive the benefit. She also stressed that deserving women should not be deprived because of false applications.
According to government sources, many applicants provided incorrect details while submitting online forms. In several cases, mistakes were made during applications filed through cyber cafés, while some beneficiaries also faced bank account linking issues. To resolve these problems, Block Development Officer (BDO) offices have been instructed to conduct detailed surveys and verify every application before releasing the funds.
Government Expands Opportunity for Left-Out Beneficiaries
The Annapurna Yojana was also discussed during a meeting between Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and NCPI MPs at Bangabhaban in Delhi. The meeting focused on strengthening development across West Bengal and ensuring that government welfare schemes reach every eligible citizen.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister announced that each of the 20 NCPI MPs would be allowed to recommend 5,000 additional beneficiaries under the Annapurna Yojana. This decision aims to help women who had applied for the scheme but were unable to receive the financial assistance during the initial phase.
After the meeting, MP Shatabdi Roy said the discussions were positive and focused on regional development, including roads, ICDS centres, and welfare schemes. She confirmed that MPs would now be able to recommend eligible women who were left out of the Annapurna Yojana.
Sources also claimed that several NCPI MPs raised concerns about a lack of support from local BJP workers and administrative challenges in their constituencies. Some MPs reportedly said they were facing difficulties in reaching people at the grassroots level. Political observers believe that allowing MPs to recommend additional beneficiaries could also help strengthen their connection with local communities while expanding the reach of the welfare scheme.
