The Department of Horticulture, Rajasthan College of Agriculture and All India Coordinated research Project on Tuber Crops, has organized a three days Annual Group Meeting from 18th to 20th June, at RCA Auditorium, MPUAT.

The Chief Guest for the meeting today was Dr. S.K.Chakrabarty, Director, CTCRI, Thirvanantpuram and the session was presided by Dr. O.P.Gill, Vice Chancellor, MPUAT.
Dr. H. P. Singh, DDG, (Horticulture), ICAR, andK.K.Kaushal CEO, Sago Group were the Special Guests.
Dr. O.P Gill stressed on the need for inter-cropping, low cost production technology, disease management and the need for quality seed for horticulture crops. He told that India has achieved self sufficiency in food security and stands second after China in the production of Horticulture crops.
Dr. H.P.Singh said that despite high levels of food production, India needs to improve technology for agricultural development to meet the demands of increasing population in the next 20-25 years. He pointed out the need of High tech horticulture, improved cultivars (Seed), disease diagnostics, micro irrigation, Collection, characterization and multiplication of improved seed of horticulture crops.
Dr. James George, All India Project Coordinator of the project on Tuber Crops, presented the previousyear’s report.
The best center award was given to Rajendra Agriculture University, Dholi, Bihar.
The session was compered by Dr. Sunil Pareek, Project-In-Charge.
One the first day a technical session was also held. More than 60 Scientists from all over the country attended the meeting, and presented their work progress as well as the plan for the coming year.
