“Apoorna” is the play by Nadbrahma Foundation of Udaipur which would be giving voice to all those unborn babies, who could have come into this world to make it more wonderful and lovely place to live.

This play is going to rattle the viewer’s mind with trail of questions about female feticide on the special day- Mother’s Day (8^th May) at Town Hall from 7pm onwards.

On 1st May 2011, a creative poster making competition would be held (on the theme of female feticide) at R.kay mall between 10am to 12pm.

Shivraj Sonwal (in photo) -the theatrical director of Nadbhrahma is an all rounder personality and has worked with several apocryphal directors of India like Qayyum Ali Bohra, Mahendra Modi-Radio drama director of All India Radio.

He stepped into theatre world and started everything from a scratch in 1989 and paved his way himself by working hammer & tongs.

“After doing many plays, I was looking for some unique theme for female feticide issue, so suddenly the idea of preparing a play which expresses what those unborn kids would have expected and what they got, without any mistake. We have injected a very sentimental touch to this sensitive topic by portraying the thoughts of those unborn. ” Shivraj Sonwal said.

Theme of the Play:

“Apoorna” as the name entails- something which couldn’t be completed, denotes the stinging topic of criminal practice about killing female fetus.

The tale of the play would reveal the dark secret of the Indian society-female infanticide in outstandingly thought provoking way. The theme of play is set on the angle of those unborn babies and their imaginative perspective.

The unborn children have their own world where they all share their stories, sorrows and dreams which could not be fulfilled. Female feticide is a scary truth of India. This sick and gruesome practice still exists in few rural places of India like Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh.

“Apoorna” is an effort to ignite consciousness and guilt to those human beings who have contributed for the expansion of this sinister. 11 small girls are also participating in the play to give it a real painful touch.

This act for humankind is to inculcate kindness toward girl child, which is considered a burden in the rural families. This is a step towards the removal of this pigheaded thinking.

“When I began with Road Shows (nukkad natak), it was hard to gather performers but now people are approaching me which is the after effect of the play. So our performance has become our connector with the performers. But the appreciation is larger than the response from those who have desire to perform in theatre, people need to be acknowledged of their duty towards society, which can partially be fulfilled by mind boggling theatre performances.” Shivraj Sonwal expressed.

The stage performers would include Anil Dhadhich, Rakesh, Yash Khaturiya, Shubhangi Rathore, Amit Shrimali, Rekha Sisodia, Naveen Jingar & Kajal Verma. 11 small girls participating which include Priyanka, Ila, Ira, Shivani, Neha, Akanksha, Divya, Riya, Muskaan & Nahid.

The accolades of Nabdharma include “Andar Aana Mana hai” (performed at festivals of young directors of Rajasthan), “Pranveer Pratap” (performed at Rajasthani Sahitya Academy), “Shabd Beej”( performed at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur) & “Cyber man Spiderman” which was based on an audacious topic about the relationship between husband and wife.
