May 7, 2025 – An Indian Army Tri-Services press conference was held in New Delhi earlier today in which two women officers, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, briefed the media on the execution of Operation Sindoor. Also present was Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri who said the operation was a "measured and proportionate" response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 tourists were killed by terrorists believed to be part of Pakistan-based terror groups.

“During Operation Sindoor, no military installations were targeted in Pakistan. The chosen terror sites were based on credible intelligence and their involvement in cross-border terrorism,” said Colonel Qureshi, who briefed on how the Gulpur terror camp, Kotli, 30kms away from LoC, and a base of Lashkar-e-Taiba was attacked.

A distinguished officer in the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals, Colonel Qureshi made history as the first woman to command an Indian Army contingent in a multinational military exercise.

A video footage, captured by onboard targeting systems and surveillance drones, demonstrating successful strikes on terror camps in Muridke and other parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) was shown at the briefing.

The video showed various direct hits on key terrorist infrastructure, including camps allegedly linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir were targeted, including the Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, Sarjal in Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli, and the Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad, all allegedly associated with the banned group Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Talking to the press, Wing Commander Singh said “The operation was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces to bring justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families”.

"India has demonstrated considerable restraint in its response," said Singh who has extensive experience operating helicopters like the Chetak and Cheetah in challenging terrains, including Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast. However, India Armed Forces are fully prepared to respond to Pakistani misadventure, if any, to escalate the situation, she added.
