July 22, 2025 – The Indian Army has received its first batch of Apache helicopters from the US as part of its contract with US aerospace major Boeing for six Apache helicopters. Three Apache attack helicopters were delivered at the Hindon Air Force station today July 22. The other three Apaches are likely to be delivered to India by the end of this year.
According to the Army, these combat choppers, known as “tanks in the air”, will be deployed at Jodhpur to give a major boost to the force’s operations in the region.
“Indian Army inducts #Apache. Milestone moment for Indian Army as the first batch of Apache helicopters for Army Aviation arrive today in India. These state-of-the-art platforms will bolster the operational capabilities of the #IndianArmy significantly”, the Indian Army wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The delivery for six Apaches was scheduled for May-June 2024 following a Rs 5,691 crore deal signed when Donald Trump had visited India in 2020 as US President.
