Arrest of Ward Councilor for Fake ‘Pattas’ in Sisarma

The Nai Thana police have arrested a ward councilor involved in issuing fake “pattas” (land leases) for populated land near the Sitamata Sanctuary in Gram Panchayat Sisarama. The accused, Ram Lal Gameti, had been voilating the law for a long time, leading to a court issuing an arrest warrant against him.

Background of the Case

Station Officer Narpat Singh reported that the Development Officer of the Panchayat Samiti Girwa filed a complaint in 2010. It was revealed that 3.24 hectares of populated land near the Sitamata Sanctuary had been misappropriated. Ram Lal Gameti, along with then-sarpanch Manoharlal Khatik, secretary Ramesh Gameti, deputy sarpanch Ramesh Nagda, and other ward councillors, issued 15 pattas on August 5, 2006.

Financial Loss to the Government

The fraudulent activity caused a significant loss of 55 lakh to the government. Ram Lal Gameti was not appearing in court, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant against him.

Court Proceedings and Arrest

The police arrested Ram Lal Gameti on October 15,2024. He was presented in court on October 16,2024. During the court proceedings, his bail application was submitted but was rejected, resulting in his imprisonment.

Other Involved Parties

In this case, Naka Gayri (69), a resident of Sisarama who received a patta, surrendered in court on October 9 and is currently in jail. Additionally, Bhola Ram Gurjar, a resident of Bhoi, and Girdhari Talesra, a resident of Sisarama, were declared absconders by the court on October 10. Both individuals have also been on the run for an extended period.
