Maharashtra to vote in a single phase on Nov 20; Jharkhand goes to poll on Nov 13 and 20
Udaipur, October 15, 2024 - Dates for the Assembly polls for Maharashtra and Jharkhand have been announced. Elections will be conducted in Maharashtra on November 20, 2024, in a single phase process. Counting will be on November 23, 2024.
Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20. Counting will be held on November 23.
This was announced by Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commission, in a media briefing today, October 15.
In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, 9.63 crore people will be eligible to vote across 288 constituencies. The state will have 1,18,600 polling booths for this election.
Maharashtra Assembly Election Full Schedule:
Notification release: October 22, 2024 (single-phase election)
Last date for filing nominations: October 29, 2024
Scrutiny of nominations: October 30, 2024
Last date for withdrawal of nominations: November 4, 2024
Voting date: November 20, 2024
Election result: November 23, 2024
Apart from these, the Election Commission has also announced by-election dates for several states including Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
A by-election for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala will be held on November 13. This is following Rahul Gandhi’s resignation from the seat. It is speculated that Priyanka Gandhi may contest the election from here on behalf of the Congress party.
