ATM machine of SBBJ Bank located near the office of collector was mistakenly left open today by the bank employees who are responsible for conducting the daily technical proceedings.

The incident came to notice when some alert citizens informed nearby Police Chowki after visiting the ATM this morning. Police immediately arrived at the scene and informed the bank authorities about the incident.

The upper flap of the ATM machine was mistakenly left open. However, the safe within the machine, where all the cash is kept, was safely locked.

Suresh Chandra Kalra, manager ATM, admitted that this incident was a result of the negligence of their officials who visit ATM every morning to deposit cash and for other procedures. It is possible that they might have pushed the flap down and moved away without checking whether it was properly locked. The flap automatically opens itself in few minutes if not closed properly.

When asked why there was no guard deployed at ATM, the manager said, “It is too costly for us to employ security at every ATM.”
