Auto-Debit of Postal Life Insurance Premiums

Udaipur Post Office launches auto-debit facility to prevent payment delays and policy lapse; Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural PLI premiums will now be automatically deducted from bank accounts

Udaipur, Feb 5, 2026 - The Department of Posts of India has launched an important digital initiative for Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) policyholders, keeping their convenience and interests in mind. Under this initiative, insurance premiums will now be automatically deducted from policyholders’ bank accounts or postal savings accounts. This new system will significantly reduce delays, oversights or policy lapses in premium payments.

The Senior Superintendent of the Postal Division said that policyholders wishing to avail of this facility must submit their consent (auto-debit mandate) through a prescribed form at their nearest post office. The process will be implemented in phases starting this month. On the scheduled date, the premium amount will be automatically deducted, and the policyholder will receive an SMS notification on their registered mobile number.

Currently, the Udaipur Division has one Head Post Office, 43 Sub Post Offices, and 392 Branch Post Offices. Through all these post offices, extensive awareness campaigns are being conducted to ensure that maximum policyholders benefit from this facility.

Akshay Gadekar of the Udaipur Postal Division informed that this initiative will make Postal Life Insurance services simpler, more transparent and consumer-friendly. It will not only benefit policyholders but also streamline departmental operations.
