Badgaon Road Widening

Udaipur, March 25, 2025 - The Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) has started widening the Badgaon Main Road to 60 feet after clearing all obstacles. On Monday, March 24, 2025, the UDA authorities demolished a historical house and removed five shops that were blocking the project. The entire road, drainage, divider, and lighting work is expected to be completed within three months.

Demolition and Clearance Work

The demolition operation took place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The house belonged to Panna Lal Sharma, who had served as the village head (Sarpanch) three times. This house was historically important as it was once the Mewar government’s tehsil office. Later, the Sharma family bought it from the royal family for 501 silver coins.

After reaching a compensation agreement, the Sharma family vacated the house, and UDA demolished it in the presence of Patwari Surajpol Singh Solanki and the Home Guard team.

Road Construction Plan

Now that the 1-kilometer road stretch is clear, UDA will begin construction in the following steps:

  1. Drainage System: A 3-feet-wide drainage system will be built along the roadside.
  2. Pathway: A 2-feet-wide unpaved pathway will be constructed next to the drainage.
  3. Road and Divider: The main road and divider will be built.
  4. Street Lights: The divider will have single poles with two lights each for better visibility.
