Baneshwar Dham to develop as per Master Plan

Baneshwar Dham, a religious destination in Dungarpur district will be developed on the guidelines of a master plan, after the heritage site was covered in the revenue records for the first time.

“For the first time, this area was now covered in the revenue record and a gazette notification to this effect would be issued by the state government in a fortnight,” said Chairman of Rajasthan Dharohar Sanrakshan and Pronati Pradhikaran (Rajasthan Heritage Conservation and Development Authority or RHCDA), Onka Singh Lakhawat.

So far, the land of Baneshwar Dham with natural flow of water and the famous temple of ‘Tripura Sundari’ were not mentioned in the revenue records. Once the proposals and detailed project report were prepared, funds would be sought from the state government for conservation of heritage and religious places.

Of a total of 80 hectares of land, 35 hectares were islands and 15 hectares had temples and other buildings in Baneshwar Dham. Lakhawat further added that Dharmshala, crematorium ground, public toilets and other utility centers would be developed in the area.
