Services in most banks, including private lenders will be impacted in Udaipur on 26-Dec due to strike called by employees of various banks protesting against the Bank of Baroda-Dena Bank-Vijaya Bank merger. This is part of nationwide strike called by bank union employees.

It may be noted that merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda was announced by RBI in September this year.

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) is protesting that the merger is not in interest of banks or bank customers. Union says that after merger a large number of branches will be closed and will have an adverse impact on both customers and bank staff.

Other demands of UFBU related to NPA recovery issue and early closure of 11th Pay settlement.

All bank officials in Udaipur will assemble at Punjab National Bank branch, Town Hall at 11:00 am and will hold a demonstration there.
