Udaipur BAR association Lawyers protested in the court premises today, demanding a High Court Bench in Udaipur and issued a memorandum to the Collector.
The demand for the High Court Bench is being made since the last 30 years and the Bar Association will now be on a strike for an hour on the 7th of each month until the High Court Bench is approved for the city.
Manish Jain, Ex-Secretary, BAR Association said, ”The High Court Bench is necessary for our city, as the people of the city have to go to Jodhpur to attend every hearing. It is highly inconvenient, and lawyers in the city who are capable of handling High Court cases are not getting enough opportunities.”
The President of the BAR association, Bharat Joshi also cited the obvious, that on end the Government is proposing the Municipal Corporation for the City and on the other end there is no High Court bench in the city. Udaipur’s Urban population is larger compared to other districts and so the city needs a High Court Bench.
“There are 110 villages on the outskirts of Udaipur; besides there are a large number of cases from Rajsamand, Bhilwara ,etc. The High Court bench in Udaipur will reduce the problems faced by pleaders who go for the hearing to Jodhpur”, said Narendra Nagda, Secretary, BAR.
