IRCTC Online Booking Time Extended
Online Users wil effectively get 15 minutes extra to book train tickets online through the Railway Online Booking Management Engine, IRCTC.
Starting September, the Online Booking Window will extend till 11:45am, which was previously till 11:30am. Currently the Online Server shuts down for One Hour after 11:30am. Hence the website will now be unavailable for 45 minutes only.
Recently, IRCTC, which a is a ‘Mini Ratna’ PSU of Indian Railways, imported new servers to speed up e-ticketing operations on its digital platform. This will enable a 45 minutes repair window as against the earlier 60 minute repair window. Interestingly, the portal, which is rated as the world’s second busiest booking portal with 3 Crore registered users, sells average 5.5 to 6Lac tickets per day.
This 15 minute extension will also be available for passengers booking through the traditional railway station counters.
