Following the terrorist attack in Pathankot almost 4 years back, 23 airbases in India were identified as high risk zones. 5 of these airbases are that of Rajasthan along Pakistan border.

Uttarlai, Jaisalmer, Nal, Suratgarh and Jodhpur airbases are under high risk and will have integrated premier security system (IPSS) similar to that of Pathankot. BEL prepared this security system as pilot project in Pathankot which will be operational by December. Post this, the IPPS will be replicated on the other airbases, too.

“The IPPS includes a smart perimeter fence with different types of electro-optic and motion-detection sensors, surveillance and thermal cameras, along with a command and control centre that gets a composite 24X7 live video feed to ensure breaches can be detected immediately. The IPPS electronic eye will help in quickly launching the appropriate counter-measures to thwart an intrusion as soon as it is detected. With airbases being inherently large in terms of area, it is not possible to physically man each inch of the perimeter.” (information has been copied from source to maintain authenticity)
