A 60 year old woman became victim of acid attack in Chittorgarh. Irony of the situation is that none of the villagers came to her help since her family was facing a social boycott. A man threw acid on 60 year old woman in Charaliya village while she going somewhere in the evening. The woman got burnt from face to stomach.

 Hulasi Bai was on her way home with cattle when Gangaram from the same village threw acid on her. She somehow managed to reach home. Her younger daughter tried to seek help from villagers who didn’t turn up since the family was facing social boycott. The reason behind social boycott is Hulasi Bai’s son who murdered a close relative. Daughter Kanchan approached Vice-Sarpanch Kailash Singh Jhala who informed her husband Jagdish who lives in the nearby village. After this Jagdish reached and called for ambulance which did not reach even after an hour and half. Then a private vehicle was hired and victim Hulasi Bai was taken to hospital in Nimbaheda. The victim was then referred to Udaipur the same night. Overall, the woman could receive treatment 4 hours post the acid attack.

The woman’s son Bherulal had murdered his own relative Kishan Lal (17) in July 2017. He was arrested the very next day of murder. As a result of this murder, the entire family was facing social boycott in the village. The only point of relief for the family is that they were not prohibited from buying things of daily need from the village. Acid attacker Gangaram has also been arrested by police.
