Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre has been diagonised with high grade cancer. Sonali shared this update via her Instagram account. The 43 year-old actress is currently undergoing treatment in New York.

Well known for her Bollywood hits like Hum Saath Saath Hain, Sarfarosh & Kal Ho Na Ho, Sonali said in her instagram post that “Sometimes when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has metastasized, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”

What is Metastic cancer?

Cancer Treatment Centers of America defines metastasis as, “the spread of cancer cells to new areas of the body (often by way of the lymph system or bloodstream). A metastatic cancer, or metastatic tumour, is one which has spread from the primary site of origin (where it started) into different area(s) of the body”. Metastasis is a serious stage as it means that the cancer was strong enough to spread to other parts of the body.

Sonali’s post has sent a shock-wave through the Bollywood industry and her colleagues and fans all over are sending her wishes for speedy recovery.
