Hero of Haldighati battle, Chetak, cannot be missed when it comes to remembering Maharana Pratap. Chetak and Maharana Pratap are synonymous to each other. Mention of one brings simultaneous thought of the other. They will remain inseparable till the end of history.

A fair will be held on each death anniversary of the legendary Maharana Pratap which will actually celebrate the devotion of Chetak towards his master. A new idol of Chetak is ready for this occasion. The first fair will be held on 19th January 2018 at Chetak Memorial near Khamnor, Udaipur. Final touches are being given to this fascinating 13 feet huge metal idol which is at Maharana Pratap Museum. This idol took three months to get into shape and 4 artists from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal put in their hard work to create this beautiful structure.

Narendra Singh, founder of Pratap Country, used to organise a similar fair 10 years back at Khamnor. After his demise, it stopped. A few months back, Collector Archana Singh showed interest in this fair. Every year almost 5 lakh tourists visit Haldighati which includes almost one and half lakh students, informed Dr. Mohan Shrimali, founder of the museum. The tourists visit the valley where the battle took place and also visit RaktTalai and also show interest in other memories related to the battle of Haldighati.

Earlier very few people used to visit Haldighati, but once museum was established, the number of visitors increased. From 20000 the numbers went to more than 5 lakh in 2003 after the construction of museum. In spite of the historical importance the place holds, it is being neglected from tourism point of view. Dr.Shrimali said that the fair will be held for one day in 2018 but going forward it will be held for 3 days in a row.

The fair is likely to prove a boon for Rajsamand district since it will increase the graph of tourism. It will be highlighted as an important activity on tourist map. The fair will also have horses of numerous breeds. All tourists have high regards for such type of memorials.
