Forest official hides for safety-Surrounded by leopards
Leopard family spotted in Hawa Mahal area near Jaisamand Lake.
Employee of the forest department, a man had to hide for his safety when he found himself surrounded by leopards. The incident occurred in Jaisamand. Dinesh Meena was on his routine early morning round in Hawa Mahal near Jaisamand Lake promenade. On his return, he found his path blocked by 2 leopards on the main gate. Scared by this, Dinesh made his way to safety and rushed to the palace’s roof top. He tried to get down the stairs into the backyard where he saw one more leopard. He stayed on the rooftop for around an hour and when the leopards did not move away, he informed the department through his mobile.
Around 11 a.m., 8 of the staff members reached the palace and created noise to hush the leopards away. As per the staff of the forest department, a leopard family is living in that area since last 6 days which has caused terror among villagers and tourists. Around 2 days back, leopards preyed on a calf. The tourism department has prohibited entries in Hawa Mahal area for public following these incidents.
