Good News for Fateh Sagar: Madar Bada receives 9 Feet water Ask any Udaipurites if they would prefer heavy showers in the city and a half full Fateh Sagar OR mild-moderate showers in the city and an overflowing Fateh Sagar. In 9 out of 10 cases, people would opt for the second option.

While the city has received fairly modest rain showers so far, the catchment area of the city has received some good rainfall. As a result, one of the main feeders of Fateh Sagar, Lake Bada Madar witnessed a 9 feet rise in its water level.

Bada Madar had till a few days back recorded water level below zero. But due to heavy rains in the catchment of Bada Madar, the lake saw a heavy inflow of water raising its level by 9 feet. The current water level at Bada Madar reads 7.5 feet above zero. It may be noted that the water capacity of Bada Madar is 24 feet. Once the water level crosses this threshold, water starts flowing towards Fateh Sagar.

This water level increase has come from heavy rainfall in Gogunda, Iswal, Wadarwada, Bhadwi Guda and nearby catchment area of Bada Madar.

With monsoon not having set-in as one would have expected, hopes are that water levels would rise faster once monsoon does set in and we will again be witness to the picturesque scenes at FatehSagar overflow point.
