On Sunday 25 June, 2023, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) utilized its lens to capture aerial photographs, showcasing the concluding arrangements for this year's Haj season in Mecca. Muslims perform Haj to fulfill their religious obligations, seek closeness to Allah, purify their souls, foster unity among believers, and experience personal and spiritual growth. It is a profound and significant undertaking that holds immense importance in the lives of Muslims worldwide. 

Haj is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the fundamental obligations for Muslims. It is a religious duty ordained by Allah (God) upon those who are physically and financially capable. From a vantage point of 1,000 meters in the sky, the lens of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) captured images of the faithful pilgrims and the sacred sites in Mecca. Additionally, these aerial photographs showcased the comprehensive services provided to the pilgrims by the Saudi authorities.

During the Haj pilgrimage, security planes play a vital role in monitoring the holy sites and Mecca. These aircraft are responsible for offering emergency, rescue, and firefighting services as needed. Moreover, they are equipped to monitor the movements of pilgrims, capturing live images that are then transmitted and broadcasted through multiple channels and websites. This ensures real-time coverage and accessibility of the pilgrimage experience to a wider audience.

With the lifting of COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions, Saudi Arabia anticipates a gathering of over two million pilgrims from more than 160 countries during this year's Haj season, commencing on June 26. The resumption of Haj pilgrimage activities is expected to draw a diverse global attendance, signifying the return to a significant religious event after a period of limitations due to the pandemic.
