Udaipur boy studying in M.S. University, Vadodara was severely thrashed by 6-7 fellow students leaving him seriously injured. Police is suspecting inter-group clash between the boys to be reason behind the attack.

The victim, Anshumansingh Manjeetsingh Shakhtawat, is a student at M.S.University and staying at Manubhai Mehta Hall Hostel in Vadodara. He was attacked yesterday morning by about 6-7 of his fellow colleagues with iron rods and other items. The accused have been named by Police as Rahul, Kundan, Priyananda amongst other Manipuri students.

It has been reported that the dispute goes back to an altercation that happened on 2-March when an inter-group clash happened between students of Rajasthan and Manipur over alleged racial slur. Post that the Manipur students yesterday broke open the door of Anshuman’s room and attacked him.

Anshuman said that he had only tried to intervene between the Rajasthan and Manipur student groups but the Manipur students felt that he was involved in the violence.

Anshuman was seriously injured in the attack. Anshuman has been admitted to SSG Hospital.

A complaint has been lodged with Sayajiganj Police Station. Investigation of CCTV footage has revealed entry of 6 boys into the hostel.
