A wanted criminal in Gujarat, history-sheeter Amarsinh Rajput was arrested in Udaipur bringing much relief to Gujarat ATS team. Rajput was earlier caught 12 times on charges of stealing oil from petroleum companies.

Rajput (38) currently has seven cases registered against him in Anand. HE was arrested in a joint operation by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Vadodara Special Operations Group (SOG).

Rajput is a resident of Vadodara. He has been accused of stealing oil from oil major IOC pipelines for last 10 years.He has repotedly stolen 250 oil tankers with each tanker having capacity of up to 20,000 litres of petroleum. Rajput is alleged to have been involved in over 500 oil theft cases.

R D Faldu, DySP, ATS said, “Rajput has been involved in only one crime which is stealing of oil. The operation of puncturing the oil pipelines is very risky and Rajput had become a master of it.”
