Case has been registered against a husband for allegedly burning his wife's face with oil in an attempt to increase her fairness. The wife's face was burnt severly and she was admitted to MB Hospital for treatment.

The incident relates to a Vaishnav family in Navania village of Vallabhnagar. SHO Shyamlal said that Kishandas S/O Sitaram married Badi Sadri resident Laxmi d/o Kishandas two years back.
Kishandas had a problem with Laxmi’s dark complexion and used to trouble her on that account. Laxmi was at her parent’s house for last two months. Kishandas called Laxmi back from her mother’s place. On her return, Kishandas poured oil on her face saying that it would in improving her complexion. He then lit an agarbatti (incense stick) near her face due to which oil caught fire and her face was severely burnt.
Police has recorded Laxmi’s statement and is continuing the interrogation.
