Software Company Wipro, Bengaluru, got an anonymous threat via email.

Wipro, the software company, lodged a complaint regarding an anonymous e-mail threat. Someone sent a mail threatening the company to pay 500 crore rupees within 20 days failing which a toxic chemical ricin would be added to the company’s canteen by means of a drone.

As per reports, the mail was received by the reception of the company in Sarjapur branch. The threatening mail was immediately notified to the local police. Wipro says that the mail will not cause any negative effect on their working but they have raised their security to a higher level.

The anonymous person also claims to have sent 2 grams of ricin to the Wipro office in an envelope.

Ricin is a deadly poison which can kill within days. It is produced in the seeds of castor oil plant. The scariest part is that it is very easy to make. It infects cells, blocking their ability to synthesise their own protein. Without cells making protein, key functions in the body shut down. Even in survivors, permanent organ damage is the result of ricin poisoning. Victims of ricin ingestion feel gastrointestinal effects which can lead to severe diarrhoea further developing into fatal dehydration.
