Udaipur’s Open water swimming sensation Bhakti Sharma has been named as part of 2019 Forbes India W-Power list.

Bhakti Sharma joins the powerful list including Priyanka Chopra, Mary Kom, Geethanjali Radhakrishnan, Rajlakshmi Borthakur, Subhadra Dravida, Dr Seema Rao, Komal Mangtani, Vinati Saraf Mutreja, Harshbeena Zaveri, Shaka, Sipika, Seema Bhatt, Beena Kannan, Revathi Kant, Abha Narain, Keya Vaswani, Nidhi Kamath, Shikha Mittal, Menaka Guruswamy, Rituparna Chatterjee, Mahima Kukreja and Sandhya Menon.

Forbes mentions in her note about Bhakti Sharma that she has swum in all five oceans of the world. She is the first Asian woman and youngest in the world to complete open swimming in the 1 degree celsius Antarctic waters.

In the Forbes article, Bhakti recalls how difficult it still is for her to get sponsorship – and this after she has crossed the English Channel and Strait of Gibraltar and won the Lake Zurich swim which is world’s longest swimming marathon race.
