'I’ve always said that he (Putin) wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that's proving to be right…’: US President Donald Trump
May 26, 2025 - Russia intensified its attack on Ukraine overnight by launching its biggest aerial assault of the war so far. According to reports, Russia sent around 298 drones and 69 cruise and ballistic missiles hitting Ukraine cities, including Mykolaiv, Ternopil and Kharkiv. Thirteen people, including three children, were killed and dozens were injured in the overnight attack.
The Russian military has claimed of intercepting 95 Ukrainian drones.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has blamed US “silence” for Russia’s aggression saying, “"This cannot be ignored. America's silence, and the silence of others in the world, only encourages Putin."
US President Donald Trump has slammed Zelensky for “talking the way he does…."Everything out of his mouth causes problems… I don't like it, and it better stop," he said.
After an initial silence to the attacks, Trump came down heavily on Russia.
"I've always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I'm not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever," the US President said in a post on Truth Social.
"I've always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that's proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!" he added.
