Bina Kak, Cabinet Minister for Tourism, Art and Culture attended the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) meeting as well as two book launchings today.

Bina Kak, Cabinet Minister for Tourism, Art and Culture attended the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) meeting as well as two book launchings today.

She launched the book “Mewar Ki Lok Kala: Fadh”, written by Vandana Joshi and “Turi Barot”, a book about the famous folk art of Gujarat of the same name by Upendra Anu, a resident of Rishabhdev.

The West Zone Cultural Centre’s Working Committee, held at Anand Bhawan, was led by Kak and mainly discussed the Cultural Programs that will be held in the upcoming years of 2012-2013.

Shailendra Dashora, Director of the Committee, said that the committee will be spending a total of Rs. 7.5 crores on all the upcoming events and cultural activities this year.

Bina Kak visits WZCC: Held Meeting, Launched BooksThe Minister for Art and Culture admired the works of the WZCC, applauding the efforts that have been put in by the working committee which have helped bring out many Folk performers and artists from rural areas in the limelight of the urban culture.

Dashora elaborated on the events the committee is working on, which include the Shilpgram Utsav of Udaipur, Pushkar Fair as well as other events in both Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Centre, in order to encourage the Visual Arts, will be organizing a Graphics Camp, ‘Pratyankan’ and an Art Camp, ‘Chitrakan’. In addition to these, the Centre also discussed and agreed upon the need for a workshop on Creative Photography.

In accordance with various other state cultural groups, state academies and art centers, the Centre will also be organizing cultural events.

The committee also included Gurjot Kaur, Secretary, Tourism Art and Culture Board, Rajasthan.
