Birding and Doodling at Udaipur | City of Birds Collective

Udaipur, Sept 21, 2025: On Sunday early morning the City of Birds Collective organised a Birding & Doodling event at Rani Road, Fateh Sagar in collaboration with Umang Hub. A lot of young men & women, all first time birders participated in the event. The idea is to bring about a breath of fresh air in the local birding community by bringing in women of all age groups.

The bird walk was led by Swadha Pardesi. The group sighted common wetland birds of Udaipur such as Indian spot-billed ducks swimming with ducklings, pheasant tailed jacanas walking on lotus leaves, purple herons & river terns gliding gracefully to name a few. The doodling activity was guided by local talented artists such as Shuchi Mehta, Hakim Hussain & Parmeshwari Joddha.

City of Birds Collective was started this January by Swadha Pardesi, Somil Daga, Parul Daga and Shoaib Taj. They introduce people to birding and ecology by taking them on nature walks. They don't believe in stopping at just birds, they talk about trees, bugs, fungi, spiders and wildflowers... Anything interesting they come across, however tiny it's size. Nothing is insignificant. Umang Hub, an art community in Udaipur, is run by Hakim Hussain & Shoaib Taj.
