Udaipur, February 28, 2025 - After nearly two months, solar/electric boats will start operating from the Mumbaiya Bazaar point at Fateh Sagar. Currently, seven such boats are operating from the Moti Magri side of the lake. The UDA has completed the technical bid process, and the financial bid will be opened next week.
Under the new tender, the UDA will earn Rs 4.85 crore annually, which means approximately Rs 1.32 lakh per day. UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain said that after the financial bid is opened in early March, inspections and other procedures will be completed, and boating will resume by the end of March.
Boat operations were suspended after the previous contract ended on December 31. Due to this delay, the UDA has suffered a loss of Rs 80 lakh in the past two months. If the new tender process had been completed earlier, this loss could have been avoided.
Earlier, seven petrol boats operated from Mumbaiya Bazaar under Shriramdev General Motors. After the contract expired, the UDA halted operations and issued a notice demanding Rs 3.50 crore in pending dues. However, the firm claimed to have cleared the payment and requested a contract extension. The previous contract was worth Rs 3 crore annually.
Meanwhile, the Moti Magri side’s contract was awarded last year to Ujjain Dreams for Rs 4.51 crore per year for three years.
Seven boats will operate from the Mumbaiya Bazaar point.
Three speed boats (5-6 passengers each) and four standard boats (20-30 passengers each).
One petrol boat will be used for rescue operations.
Ticket prices will range from Rs 150/- to Rs 600/-, with an annual 10% increase.
The tender is valid for three years, with an option for a one-year extension.
March 1 to September 30: 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM
