Devotees of Lord Shiva have something to cheer for. They can now reach Mahakal temple via boats from the Fatehsagar lake. A contract has been signed between the municipal corporation and MM travels company for a period of five years for this purpose.

From the Bombay chowpati, people can avail  the routine lake rounds and also reach Mahakal temple by the same boat. The Mahakal temple committee will be arranging for jetty in the lake. A contract of one crore one lakh has been assigned for 6 motor boats and 4 speed boats. The boat operations are expected to start from the next week. Garage committee headed by Deputy Mayor Lokesh Dwivedi took this decision.

Lake city is blessed with a lot tourists every year but due to lack of information, very few people visit the Mahakal temple. The boat operations are likely to get more people visit the temple.

Since the lake side usually faces a lot of traffic pressure due to the parking of tourist buses, these buses can now be parked outside temple premises and a boat facility can be availed from the temple to the lake side and chowpati . This might also result in more tourists coming to the city seeing this extra benefit of temple darshan.
