The Bohra Welfare Society Felicitates Students, Social Workers and Sportsperson

Association affilitated with Udaipur Bohra Youth awards 160 meritorious students, two social workers and UAE U-19 cricketer Saleh Amin

Udaipur, Jan 22, 2026 - On the auspicious occasion of Yaum-e-Wiladat of Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and son of Hazrat Ali (AS), and Maula Abbas Alamdar (AS), a religious gathering (majlis) was organised at Masjid Wajihpura, Bohrawadi, by The Bohra Welfare Society (Mandi Association), affiliated with the reformist Dawoodi Bohra Youth community.

During the event, awards were conferred upon 160 meritorious students, two social workers and a sportsperson.

Saleh Amin Khakhadwala, a promising cricketer who represented the UAE U-19 cricket team in the Asia Cup as a wicketkeeper-batsman, was honoured with a special award for making a mark at the international level and bringing honour to the community.

President of The Bohra Welfare Society (Mandi Association) Abdullah DM announced the initiation of the Haji Mulla Peer Ali Memorial Award starting this year, in memory of the late Mulla Peer Ali to honour his dedicated services to the community.

In its inaugural year, the award was conferred upon Saifuddin IR & Sons and Mohammad Hussain Attari for their outstanding services to the society.

Secretary Ashiq Hussain Magar informed that, continuing with the annual tradition, meritorious students from the 2024-2025 academic session were honoured for their excellent result. Awardees were first, second and third rank holders, ranging from Class I, Class XII, undergraduate and postgraduate levels to MBA. Additionally, students who successfully completed IIT, BE, ME, MBBS, CA, ICWA, BBM, BDS and PhD degrees were felicitated. A total of 138 students received awards and certificates. Also 22 students from the School of Deeni Taleem were also honoured on merit.

The programme was conducted by Ali Mazhar Rassawala. Organisers included Khurshid Sabeel, Riyaz Tinwala, Azam Sanwari, Shabbir Nasir, Anees Kholiya and Arifa Nasir.

Earlier, while presiding over the majlis, Mulla Sajjad Hussain Kharagurawala and Ali Asgar Khilonawala urged children and youth to follow the teachings and path of Imam Hussain (AS), highlighting the illuminating aspects of his life. Qaseedas in praise of Imam Hussain were also recited, followed by a community feast.
