Bottleneck continues despite widening of the road; authorities in talks with affected shopowners

Udaipur, November 21, 2024 - After the widening of the Fatehpura intersection, focus has now moved to the Durga Nursery intersection where a bottleneck is leading to traffic congestion. Talks are on between Mohanlal Sukhadia Trust, Public Works Department (PWD) and Udaipur Nagar Nigam to draw up a plan for removing the bottleneck at the crossing.

City MLA Tarachand Jain and Mayor Govind Singh Tank had taken the initiative to widen the road by coordinating with the PWD to acquire a part of Sukhadia Park. A section of the park was moved 10 feet inwards and the adjoining drain was repaired. The reclaimed land was paved with asphalt and gravel to create a broader road. However, there are two shops, each 20 feet wide, which are positioned about 10 feet ahead of the alignment and are obstructing the widened road. This is preventing the intended improvement in traffic from Ayad and Oriental Resort despite the widening.

These shops belong to the Trust. One proposal involves compensating the affected shopowners with land from the park area behind. Negotiations are stilll on to find a resolution.
