Udaipur, February 14: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reported a profit of Rs. 262 Crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2024 as per media reports. This marks the state-owned telecom giant's return to profitability after nearly 17 years.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia called it a significant turning point after the telco reported a profit in the third quarter of FY 2024-25.
BSNL marked its return to profitability, after scoring an improvement in multiple areas. The FTTH and leased line service offerings, coupled with a 14-18 percent growth across mobility led to an increase in subscriber base to near 9 Cr in December, from 8.4 Cr in June 2024. The revenue from mobility services grew by 15%, Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) increase by 18% and leased line services revenue increase by 14% over third quarter of previous financial year. The telco has also cut its finance cost and expenditure, resulting in a decline in lossed by Rs 1,800 Cr over the previous year.
