Budget Session of Parliament takes off with Finance Minister presenting the Economic Survey 2024-25 in Lok Sabha; Budget 2025 will be presented tomorrow, February 1

January 31, 2025 – The Budget Session of the Parliament commenced today with President Droupadi Murmu's address to the joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha highlighting the government's various schemes and goals.

The entire Budget Session will have 27 sittings. The first part will continue until February 13 after which it will break to examine the Budget proposals. The session will reconvene on March 10 and continue till April 4.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha today. She will table the first full Budget for FY 2025-2026 tomorrow, February 1, at 11:00 am.

Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media before the start of the Budget Session of 2025 at the Parliament premises this morning. Paying homage to Goddess Lakshmi, PM Modi prayed for her special blessings on every poor and middle-class community in the country.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Budget session will meet the aspirations of the nation. He called on all MPs to contribute to strengthening the vision of a developed India during this session. He emphasised that this is a golden opportunity for young MPs, as their active participation and awareness in the House will allow them to witness the fruits of a developed India.

PM Modi highlighted the importance of reform, perform and transform in achieving rapid development. He stressed that the State and Central governments must work together to perform, and public participation will lead to transformation.

The next 25 years will be dedicated to achieving a prosperous and developed India, he added.
