Cabinet Reshuffle: Girija Vyas Announced as Union Cabinet Minister
In possibly the last major reshuffle of Union Council of Ministers, Girija Vyas was appointed as the Cabinet Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation. This portfolio was formerly held by Ajay Maken who quit on Saturday to work for the party affairs.

It may be noted that Girija Vyas is an elected MP from Chittorgarh district.
As part of the reshuffle and expansion of Union Council of Ministers, eight more ministers were given new portfolio along with few veteran ministers, after which strength of Union Council of Ministers has increased to 77.
Girija Vyas was administered oath of office and secrecy by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan, in the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari, Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
