The Forest Department of Udaipur is rapidly progressing with the development of a botanical garden in Kevde Ki Naal. The garden, being developed at a cost of Rs 7 crores over a 70-hectare area, is set to become a major attraction for tourists.
The cactus garden within this botanical garden will be inaugurated on Tuesday, August 20,2024 by Governor Gulabchand Kataria. The inauguration ceremony in Udaipur will also be attended by local MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat.
Cactus Garden Have 80 Different Species
The cactus garden will showcase 80 different species of cacti, drawing the attention of nature lovers and visitors.
The project began about two years ago on the Udaipur-Banswara road. So far, 275 species of plants native to the Aravalli range, including trees, herbs, shrubs, climbers, cacti, succulents, and grasses, have been planted. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2026-27.
Botanical Garden Species
In addition to the cactus garden, the botanical garden will feature 150 species of trees, 40 types of climbers, 55 species of shrubs, and 12 varieties of millet plants. This wide variety of flora aims to create a diverse and educational environment for visitors.
Special features of the garden will include a Polyhouse, Greenhouse, Herbal Garden, Cactus Garden, and a Rock and Mineral Park.
Similar botanical gardens are being developed at the divisional headquarters of Ajmer, Bikaner, Kota, Bharatpur, and Jodhpur, each at a cost of Rs 7 crores.
