Canada changed the rules for international students working off campus. Now, they can only work up to 24 hours a week, starting now. Before, they could work more than 20 hours. This change helps students focus on their studies while still being able to work. Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, Marc Miller says this change helps students focus on school while still earning money.

Minister Marc Miller tweeted that students could work more than 20 hours per week to help with post-pandemic recovery. But now, the government won't extend this. They are capping off-campus work at 24 hours per week because studies show that working over 28 hours hurts students' grades. They want to help students find jobs while still focusing on school.

Despite the new regulations, students with scheduled academic breaks will still have the flexibility to work unlimited hours. Minister Miller emphasized that the primary goal of international students in Canada is education. By limiting work hours, students are afforded the opportunity to concentrate more effectively on their studies. This measure is intended to uphold the integrity of the educational system while safeguarding students from potential vulnerabilities associated with excessive work commitments.
