Suicide of medical student in Mumbai has raised agitation in Udaipur. Following this some organisations carried out candle march demanding justice. On Tuesday, a showdown could be seen at Court Circle. People have strongly demanded that the people who harassed Payal Tadvi to the extent of committing suicide must be punished.

The agitation specified that tribal people are still suppressed and are forced to face discrimination in society. Professor Chandalia said that Payal’s mother had even complained to the college administration that her daughter was being harassed by senior students in the college but the complaint fell on deaf ears. It may be noted that Payal was a student in BYL Nair Hospital and she committed suicide on 22nd May after she was constantly harassed by seniors. The hospital has suspended Dr Yi Chin Ling HOD of Gynaecology until further notice.
