If the picture suggests that it is some busy motor garage or a service centre, than allow me to enlighten, that it is part of a public road near Krishi Upaj Mandi in Savina Sector-9, which has been encroached by a few private motor repairing business owners of the area.

It was nearly 3 years back that Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) constructed this road, which leads to the Sub-City Centre at Savina,the adjoining Circle of which was adopted by a private undertaking for beautification and maintenance.  However, the part which comes under complete control of local administration was left alone.

High handed carelessness of the administration comes to light when UIT claims that they have handed over the charge of area to Municipal Corporation, while Municipal Corporation says that none of the approach roads to sub-urban parts of the city comes under their purview.

According to the Rajni Dangi, Mayor, UMC, the Corporation has appealed more than once to UIT for giving full control of partial or fully developed areas, so that required development and maintaining law and order could be done by the Corporation.

The Mayor further added that not only this particular place but major parts of sub-urban Udaipur, like Sector-3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 are prominently under the working purview of UIT.  Apart from this, where on one hand UIT says it is being transferred to UMC,onthe other hand UITgenerates revenue by Auctioning left out lands in thesaid localities.

In the words of R.P. Sharma, Secretary, UIT, “the said areas do not come under our responsibility as they had been transferred to UMC, moreover that very locality was recently split into two Wards viz. 21 and 22, which earlier was known as Ward number 37 as per records of UMC.

So, my dear readers, where do we go from here…as both the administrative bodies are passing the buck to each other, whereas the areas under conflict suffer along with residents of the area, be it individuals or business owners.
