CCTV to Monitor Overspeeding and Crime on Rajasthan Highways

Overloaded trucks and illegal activities like drug smuggling will also be tracked

Highways

Udaipur, March 20, 2025 - To control crime and traffic violations, highways in Rajasthan will soon be under CCTV surveillance. In the first phase, cameras will be installed on Jaipur and Jaisalmer highways and at toll plazas. These cameras will be linked to the Abhay Command Center, allowing police in Bikaner to monitor vehicles passing through toll plazas in real time. Later, this system will be expanded to all highways in the region to reduce road accidents.

The police have interceptor vehicles to take action against overspeeding and overloaded trucks. However, due to the long stretches of highways and a limited number of vehicles, checking all violators is difficult.

Real-Time Speed Monitoring

High-quality CCTV cameras will be installed on highways and connected to the Abhay Command & Police Control Center. These cameras will track vehicle speed and travel time. If a vehicle reaches the next toll plaza too quickly, it will be flagged for overspeeding. Overloaded trucks and illegal activities like drug smuggling will also be tracked.
