Udaipur, January 16, 2025 - Palestinians in Gaza are celebrating after mediators confirmed that a ceasefire deal has been reached between Hamas and Israel. The deal, which was negotiated in Doha, Qatar, will take effect on Sunday, January 19, if approved.

Israeli Attacks Continue Before Ceasefire

Despite the announcement of the ceasefire, the Israeli military has continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip. Reports suggest that at least 40 Palestinians were killed in these attacks, which come as the Israeli cabinet prepares to vote on the deal.

Conditions of the Ceasefire Deal

Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq stated that the agreement meets all of the group's conditions. These include the full withdrawal of Israeli forces, the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes, and a permanent end to the war.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump for their help in advancing the agreement. He highlighted the importance of ending the suffering of hostages and their families.

Death Toll and Casualties

Since the war began on October 7, 2023, the conflict has killed at least 46,707 Palestinians and wounded 110,265. In Israel, 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks, and over 200 people were taken captive.
