Census 2011: Population Rises to 1.21 Billion
The Indian population has risen up to 1.21billion according to the report given by the Indian census department on Thursday, March 31, 2011 based on the census data of 2011. The 2011 report is the 15th census conducted since 1872.

The Indian population has risen up to 1.21billion according to the report given by the Indian census department on Thursday, March 31, 2011 based on the census data of 2011. The 2011 report is the 15th census conducted since 1872.
Of the 1.21 billion people in India there are 623.7 million males and 586.5 million females. Over the last ten years the Indian population has increased by 181 million.
The census report was carried out in two phrases
This covered 35 states and Union Territories, 640 districts, 5924 sub-districts, 7,936 towns and 6.41 lakh villages.
Despite the decline in the growth rate, i.e. 17.64 in 2001-2011 which was 21.54 in 1991-2001, the population has risen to its peak.
The population of India, at 1210.2 million, is almost equal to the combined population of U.S.A., Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Japan put together (1214.3 million).
Among the states, Uttar Pradesh has the highest population 19, 95, 81,477 followed by Maharashtra with 11, 23, 72,972. And among the Union territories it’s Sikkim with 6,07,688.
The population of Rajasthan shares 5.67% of total population of the country and is 6,86,21,012 persons. Out of the total 3,56,20,086 are males and 3,30,00,926 are females.
Overall Sex ratio at the National level has increased by 7 points since Census 2001 to reach 940 at Census 2011.
The Indian population is increasing at an alarming rate, it seems that India will be taking the first place in the list of most populated countries. Now the only thing to be noticed is what steps will our country take against the increasing population?
